The 3rd Generation Subaru Impreza. Features a radical new hatchback design based on the research and design done by STi for the 2008 Subaru World Rally Car. Referred to as "dragon eye," "serpent eye," or "snake eye." The 2008 Impreza's face is similar to the 2007 model except for the bottom portion of the bumper and the grille which is now a single piece. Upon initial release, the grille was criticized for looking "too domestic" which prompted Subaru to release the minimalist "sport grille" option.
Models
2.5i, WRX, and STi. While the United States is the only market to receive a sedan version of the Impreza for 2008, the STi still only comes in hatchback form.
Chassis
Based on the 2005-2008 Subaru Legacy. This is the first Subaru car to feature a double-wishbone rear suspension.
Engines
2.5l flat 4 from the Legacy with turbocharged versions for the WRX and STi. Should it be mentioned that Japan has a 2.0l model... or a STi basic model (a NA STi -- basically all of the STi trim except without DCCD and the turbocharger).
Need to clean up this article.
